Venue FAQ

The short, practical answers to the questions venue operators ask before connecting a router and bringing guest WiFi online.

1. What does it cost to get started?

Onboarding starts at no cost. There is no onboarding fee or required upfront payment to begin, and the current Phase 1 Bronze tier is live for 0–100 locations.

You can start with the Bronze path and evaluate the service at your own pace. See the venue setup guide for the current setup and list your venue when you are ready.

2. What guest data is captured, and who owns it?

Guest form PII is captured on behalf of the venue. The venue owns and controls that guest relationship. Submitted data is venue-routed rather than retained as a Weird Network corporate guest database.

We do keep limited service logs needed to operate WiFi sessions. The existing PII-scrub job scrubs expired service-log identifiers such as email, IP address, user-agent, and MAC data after the relevant session window.

  • Venue-held signup data: deletion requests for that data are routed to the venue, which controls the guest relationship.
  • Our session logs: use data deletion to request removal of the Weird Network session data we hold.

Read the fuller explanations in our Privacy Policy and Data Retention page.

3. Are payouts live, and when would we get paid?

Payouts are not active in Phase 1. They are gated to Phase 2 after the network reaches 300+ locations.

We are not promising a current payout date. Until that network threshold is reached, Phase 1 is the Bronze path and payouts should be treated as a later capability, not an active payment schedule.

4. How does router pairing work?

The workflow is designed to bind each router to the right venue location:

  • Sign up as a venue and accept the current Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
  • Open the dashboard and generate a pairing code for the location.
  • Connect the router and let it complete its first boot.
  • The router sends the pairing code plus its MAC address; the pair is then bound to that venue location.

The first pair is blocked until the current DPA is accepted. The onboarding walkthrough covers the same first-venue router flow.

5. When does Phase 2 begin?

Phase 2 network-wide subscriptions unlock at 300+ total locations. That is a network threshold, not a date promised to any individual venue, so we cannot give a venue-specific Phase 2 start date today.

Phase 1 remains the current Bronze path for 0–100 locations. Follow the roadmap for the latest plan as the network grows.

See operator pricing for the current venue plans and milestones.

6. What are the steps to set up a venue?

Choose the Bronze path, create or sign in to your venue account, accept the current DPA, and submit your venue and location. We send a pre-flashed router kit; connect it to the upstream and power, then link the router to the location in the dashboard. Wait for the first handshake to confirm the connection. Follow the venue setup guide for the full flow.

7. What router and ISP requirements do we need?

Your venue needs a live WAN/ISP or upstream-switch Ethernet handoff, nearby power, a usable cable run and router placement, working DNS, and outbound HTTPS access on port 443. Your venue, IT team, or ISP owns firewall, walled-garden, VLAN, and upstream changes. See the venue setup guide before install day.

8. How does captive-portal consent work?

The venue-controlled consent panel appears before the name/email form. The guest selects I Agree & Connect to continue. The submitted details are forwarded to the venue for that session and are not stored as a Weird Network guest database. See the venue setup guide for the current flow.

9. Is support email-only?

Yes—the live support path is email-only: there is no phone support, and the planned support sidebar is not live. Use the contact page or email weird-network@polsia.app.

10. What happens after I contact support?

The contact form records your message for team review, and follow-up is by email, typically within 24 hours. For urgent needs, email weird-network@polsia.app directly as described on the contact page.

11. Is Phase 1 available to venues now?

Yes. The core captive portal is live in beta, and the current Bronze path is available for the first 100 locations. Later capabilities, including Phase 2 network-wide subscriptions and payouts, remain gated by the live roadmap; we are not promising a date. Follow the roadmap for current milestones.
