Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Weird Network. We've tried to keep them readable. The short version: we're a captive-portal software service, not an ISP; you (the venue operator) own the relationship with your end users and the data you collect from them.
Effective July 23, 2026Weird Network is a captive-portal software service. We are not an internet service provider and do not carry or transmit network traffic. The venue (you, the operator) supplies the underlying internet pipe through your own ISP and your own router. Our software only gates access at your venue's captive portal and tracks session metadata — it does not put us in the position of a telecommunications carrier.
1. Service description
Weird Network is a captive-portal SaaS. We provide software, dashboards, and analytics that let a venue (cafe, hotel, gym, coworking space, etc.) operate a branded guest WiFi sign-in flow, issue vouchers and memberships, and view connection analytics.
To be clear about what we are not:
- We are not an internet service provider (ISP).
- We are not a telecommunications carrier.
- We are not a network operator — we don't operate the underlying wired or wireless infrastructure.
- We do not carry, route, transmit, or store the substantive network traffic of your end users. That traffic flows between your venue's router and your venue's ISP connection.
What our software does: it gates internet access at your venue's captive portal, records the minimum session metadata needed to operate the service (MAC address, session start/end, byte counts, connection status), and surfaces analytics and operational tools to you in a dashboard.
2. Acceptable use
What you (the venue operator) agree not to do
You agree not to use Weird Network to:
- Provide connectivity in jurisdictions where you lack the legal authority to do so.
- Collect end-user personal information beyond what your published privacy policy discloses.
- Facilitate the distribution of unlawful content through your venue network.
- Circumvent, intercept, or otherwise violate the terms of any third-party network your guests are otherwise entitled to use.
- Resell raw internet access to your end users as a telecommunications service — you are operating a guest WiFi amenity, not becoming a carrier.
What your end users (guests on your WiFi) agree not to do
Your guests must not use the service to attack your network or other users, to attempt to bypass your captive portal beyond what you intend, or to conduct illegal activity while on the portal. You are responsible for setting and enforcing acceptable-use norms for guests on your network.
3. Provider / venue responsibilities
You (the venue operator) are the data controller for any end-user personal information collected at your captive portal — including email addresses captured at sign-in, login credentials you collect, name and demographic fields you choose to gather, and any membership data you accumulate. We process only the minimum session metadata needed to operate the service and act as a processor on your behalf.
Specifically, you are responsible for:
- Publishing and maintaining a privacy policy that accurately describes what you collect from guests and why.
- Complying with applicable local law (including GDPR, CCPA, and equivalents) for any personal data you collect.
- Displaying whatever consent flows are required by your jurisdiction before capturing guest information.
- Responding to end-user privacy requests (access, deletion, etc.) — we will assist you with export and deletion of session metadata we hold on your behalf.
If you use voucher codes, custom branded splash pages, or membership capture, the resulting member list belongs to you — you can export it at any time via the dashboard. We don't market to your members and we don't sell your data.
4. Account, billing, and subscription
Pricing follows the model already published on our pricing page. As of the effective date above, the structure is:
- Free starter tier: 100 sessions / month, single venue, community support.
- Paid tiers: Plus at $19 / month (3,000 sessions), Pro at $59 / month (15,000 sessions), Volume from $249 / month (30,000+ sessions, multi-property).
- White-label option: custom pricing for network operators running Weird Network under their own brand.
- Annual billing: 30% off any paid tier when billed annually.
Subscription mechanics:
- Annual subscriptions are billed up-front for the full year.
- Monthly subscriptions are billed per cycle.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access through that period.
- No partial-period refunds except as required by applicable law.
- We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice for active subscribers. Existing subscriptions are honored through the end of their current term at the price you signed up at.
- Overage on metered tiers is billed transparently at a published per-session rate; we email you before any overage charge applies.
Stripe is the payment processor of record. Your payment instrument is stored with Stripe — we never see your card number.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The service is provided "as is" and without warranties of uninterrupted uptime, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
- We are not liable for end-user data we do not hold — that data lives with you, the venue operator.
- We are not liable for the underlying ISP service your venue uses, the behavior of your venue network, or third-party routers, firmware, or hardware.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, or lost goodwill.
- Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims brought by your end users that arise from your operation of your venue network, your collection of end-user data, or your compliance (or non-compliance) with applicable privacy law.
6. Termination
- By you: You may terminate at any time. Termination takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then and may export your data via the dashboard.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach — including non-payment, illegal use, or activity that poses a security risk to the service or other customers — with notice where practicable.
- Data on termination: After termination, you have a 30-day window to export your data. After that window, we delete your operational data per our retention policy. Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes — anything that materially affects your rights, obligations, or data handling — we email active subscribers at least 30 days before the effective date. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Non-material changes (clarifications, typo fixes, contact information updates) will be reflected in the "Effective" date at the top of this page without separate notice.
8. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Venue for any dispute sits in Wyoming.
